Roberto Gini, conductor and viola-da-gamba player and one of the leading figures in early music today, will visit Israel during the end of December 2009. This will be his third time in Israel. On January 19 at Tel Aviv Museum and 20 at Jerusalem International YMCA, Gini will conduct the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra in the third of its concert series, which will also feature the promising soprano singer Anat Edri. The concert will present works by Handel, Telemann and Sammartini.
Roberto Gini will teach master classes under to auspices of the Department of Ancient Music at the Israeli Conservatory of Music (the so-called Shtriker conservatory) in Tel Aviv. The master classes are open to singers, players of various instruments, ensembles and listeners. The performers will be selected from amongst professional musicians, the students of the music academies, and advanced conservatory students.
Most master-class sessions will take place at the temporary dwelling of the Conservatory, 193 Ben-Yehuda Street, Tel-Aviv, during the week between December 29 and January 5. Entrance fee for listeners: 50 NIS per session. The sessions are free for the students and teachers of the Israeli Conservatory.
In addition, Robert Gini will lead the performance of chamber music of the late German baroque in a concert with the New Baroque Trio, which consists of the block flute player Drora Bruck, the Violinist Nitai Zori (this time on baroque violin) and the harpsichord player Miri Singer. The concert will take place in Tel Aviv (January 6), Haifa (January 7) and Jerusalem (January 11, an "Etnachta" concert under the auspices of the Israeli radio music station Kol Hamusika).
