Concert No. 1

400 years of the Thirty Years War

The season will start with a festive concert featuring the Symphoniae Sacrae by Heinrich Schutz

written at the end of the Thirty Years War, alongside other works from the early German Baroque.

Concert No. 2

The Indian Queen

Andrew Parrott, conductor

Soloists – Yuval Oren, Avital Dery, Yair Polishook and others.

Henry Purcell’s famous semi-opera “The Indian Queen”, with its songs, beautiful choral sections and orcAndrew Parrotthestral pieces will be played alongside other instrumental works written by Henry Purcell – the “English Orpheus”. We will also hear the first Israeli performance of Jeremiah Clarke’s “Ode on The Death of Henry Purcell”.

Concert No. 3

Glory of the Jewish Baroque

David Shemer, conductor

Claire Meghnagi, soprano; Alon Harari, alto; Jonathan Suissa, tenor; Konstantin Krimmel, baritone

Vocal and instrumental works written for the Jewish communities of Europe in the 18th century. At the center of the program is a cantata “Yona Bein Chagui ha-Sela” (anonymous) performed on the night of Hoshana Rabba in Casale Monferrato in 1732. We will also perform works by Lidarti and Saladin and even arrangements of melodies found in 18th century cantorial books in Amsterdam, some of which will be premiered at the concert.

The Music of San Marco

Andres Mustonen, conductor

Hortus Musicus Ensemble

Early 17th century music from Venice will be performed at this concert, a collaboration with Hortus Musicus, the renowned Estonian Baroque ensemble led by Andres Mustonen. The concert will include works of Gabrieli, Monteverdi, Frescobaldi and others.

Captain Corelli’s Mandolin

Jacob Reuven, mandolin

Marie Carmen-Simon, mandolin (Spain)

The mandolin will be the main feature of this charming concert, which includes double concertos of Bach and Vivaldi as well as works by Italian composers, as inspired by the book “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin” (Louis de Bernières).
